WALL•E

I finally took my son to see WALL•E today. It seems odd to say "finally," since it just came out today, but considering he's been looking forward to this movie since seeing its trailer before Ratatouille -- in other words, a quarter of his life -- I think it's appropriate.

Anyway, I think he enjoyed it overall. He wanted to go home during the first act, when EVE is especially trigger-happy. We made it almost to the door of the auditorium before he changed his mind and decided to stay. And then of course, Pixar always does things with speed and scale that can be frightening to a sensitive child who isn't used to the big screen, so he almost wanted to bail again.

WALL•E has a G rating, as opposed to Kung Fu Panda, which he saw a few weeks ago and today prononced less scary than WALL•E despite the former's PG rating. But I think in the end, he was glad he stayed.

So am I. I didn't want to wait five months to see the second half on DVD, like I did with Ratatouille.
