Trick or treating with the boys!

In a word, fun.

The first time that I had been able to take the boys out for trick or treating since my divorce was a great time. Jonathan dressed up as a vampire (we even added some face paint) and Caleb dressed up as a police officer, and while we didn't have a ton of time, it was certainly enough to have them fill up their bags almost all the way up with all kinds of stuff (I believe we hit the end of the time so people were mad dashing to get rid of their candy!).

It was great to get out amongst all of our neighbors and be chummy walking the street on what is supposed to be the scariest of all nights. One neighbor even did the "man lying in a chair" stunt to the boys, lying limp and under a sheet until they came close and scared the bejeesus out of Jonathan. So many people were in the Halloween spirit--even one mother was playing her piano with the window open as trick or treaters came up to her house; she was playing all kinds of spooky songs!

Afterwards, we gathered with some friends and the kids watched the Wizard of Oz while we grazed on some of their candy. It was certainly a great time and one I won't forget!
