We just completed a surprisingly easy two-week trip to the midwest to visit the wife's family. A. has always been a remarkable traveler, given the fact that our location -- way up north and way to the west -- requires nothing less than a 12-hour travel day to visit anyone remotely connected to the family. She's taken about a half-dozen cross-continental round trips in just over two years, and with the exception of two flight legs (on two separate trips) has been the most remarkably easy child in the air. What's most surprising about this is that she's not yet realized that it would be possible, though not advisable, for her to toddle up and down the walkway during the flight. She's an active kid; under no other circumstances could I imagine her sitting in the same chair for three or four hours at a time. But on planes, she's money -- she sits quietly, plays with her sticker books, colors in her coloring books, develops imaginary conversations between her various toys, and only rarely complains about her life. Shes a wonderfully easy child to begin with, but for some reason, the airplane turns her into a perfectly docile, sensible human being.

I'm now thinking of having my house remodeled to simulate a 737 cabin. I'm a little worried about DVT, but as long as I keep wiggling my legs, I think this could work.
