Top 5 Movie Dads: #3 Dustin Hoffman in Kramer vs. Kramer

One of the most powerful divorce dramas to this day has to be Kramer vs. Kramer, and Dustin Hoffman's character of Ted Kramer is one that I will never forget. Even though this movie is well over 25 years old, the point of it and the message is still something that divorced dads should be very cognizant of.

The movie itself means a lot to me as a divorced dad, and the powerfulness and emotion that are shown by both parents as they agonize over their new lives and the struggle to start over again with a child in the middle is something that will always pull at my heartstrings. As Ted continues to evolve and make himself a better dad (even perfecting french toast by the end of the movie), you can tell the inner peace and love that he has discovered through all of the ugliness and pain of divorce.

The "nasty" parts of this movie is something that probably all divorced couples can relate to; the growth and development towards being a better person and father is something that probably isn't so prevalent; I can totally relate to both, and I feel kind of like Kramer--where it took such a traumatic experience to appreciate their children and the sanctity of that relationship forever.
