The King

The transcript of a conversation this morning in my office between A. and her father:

A.: [staring at the cover of a book on the floor] That's Mommy!
Me: [uncertain about how to break the news] Um.... No, that's Elvis.
A.: [short pause, looks up at father] That's Elvis! [shaking head] That's not Mommy.
Me: Exactly.
A.: [looks back at the book, points to person standing beside Elvis]: That's Daddy!
Me: [horrified] No.... That's Nixon.
A.: [laughing wildly and running from the room] Nixon! Nixon! Nixon! Nixon!

I've never been mistaken for Richard Nixon before. It doesn't feel good.
