The Can

This is sadly funny:

It's one of the hardest parts about being a father to a little girl: you have no choice but to drag your precious, uncorrupted little daisy into some of the foulest palaces of filth and putrefaction known to man, while women bring their daughters with them into perfumed Xanadus. My daughter gave up diapers about a year ago, and as a stay-at-home dad who tries to stay at home as little as possible, I became one of the only parents on earth who has actively discouraged pottytraining.

I can only agree. I've been hauling A. into men's rooms for over two years now, and to be honest I'm amazed that she hasn't contracted some variety of flesh-gobbling infection simply from coming into contact with the atmosphere in some of these caverns. Restaurants are obviously the worst; I can only assume this fact correlates with the availability of alcohol, that great depressor of short-distance accuracy. There's a local grocery store that's actually quite fantastic for diaper changes. They have a genuine changing station, and it seems they've just finished cleaning the place every time I'm there. If gas prices weren't prohibitively high -- and if time were an irrelevant variable in my life -- I'd gladly drive there every time I needed to swap out a used diaper during an afternoon or evening on the town. Hell, I'd drive there from my own house, since as far as I can tell the grocery store doesn't play host to a quartet of fur-bearing, four-legged creatures.

I can't make the same assumption about the other public restrooms in town.
