Road Trip

Today was a first for M. My wife's mom lives about four hours away, so ever since he was born we've tended to schedule our drives around when he's most likely to be asleep, becuase he tends to get grumpy on long car rides. Not this time, however. This morning we woke up at the usual time, packed up the car, and headed out, fully expecting him to be awake the whole time.

And he turned out to be quite well-behaved the whole way. We only had to pull over to the shoulder so he could pee in the dried cornstalks once, and he didn't spill anything all over himself, and we were less than fifteen minutes from Grandma's house the one and only time he asked, "Are we there yet?"

I'd like to ascribe his model behavior to our excellent parenting, or to his sweet nature, and I think those were probably factors. But perhaps the portable DVD player helped a bit as well. Highly recommended.
