Parenting and Friends

Many families dwell with other families. Generally, this is the rule. This means that kids play with other kids, and it also means that valued of one family usually mixes with another. For the most part, families that "hang" together have common mindsets, but sometimes that can't be farther from the truth. So--with that in mind--when is it appropriate to discuss different things with or about other families' children and things that you feel are either wrong or needing discipline?

Do you handle it 1:1 with the child, depending on how close of friends you are with the other family? Do you ask the other mother and father to handle it or that you don't agree with that? Or do you do nothing and then explain to your own children why what happened with the other children was wrong and what you expect of them?

We have faced this quandary from time to time. I think it depends on the situation, perhaps, but it certainly is something that can present issues. What do you other parents do?
