M. Small World

Is four too young for Disneyworld? Obviously a lot of it depends on the individual kid. We brought M. Edium last week, and spent one afternoon at Epcot and one at the Magic Kingdom. He loved most of Epcot, especially the Finding Nemo ride and the aquariums surrounding it. The Kodak-sponsored Imagination thing featuring Eric Idle and a little dragon called Fidget scared the crap out of him, though. Later we wandered through some of the nations areas, and we got hung up waiting for Belle and the Beast, who never showed due to rain. He got tired and wanted to go home before dark.

At the Magic Kingdom, the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor was too Roz-intensive by half for him, so we had to skip out early. He liked some of the other stuff, especially the parade when he finally got to see Beast in person. But again, he ran out of gas and we ended up going home before dusk. At both parks, anything that was too loud or dark or fast was out of the question.

Clearly there's a sweet spot for kids at Disney World, and I don't think M. Edium is in it yet. Overall, he told us he preferred the much more child-friendly destination we went to on two other days: the Kennedy Space Center.
