Let's go see the airport, boys!

We got a call from my dad this weekend asking about going to see the brand new H. Weir Cook airport terminal that would be replacing the Indianapolis International Airport in November, and I have to admit, at first I was like, "umm...why?"

But then in talking with the boys about it, they were super-stoked to go, so I thought about it some more, took a look at what the open house was all about, and we went with my Dad and stepmom yesterday. At a price tag of 1.1 billion that will have 4000 workers there, I was most duly impressed, and so were the boys. It was again nice to see the innocence of awe as they looked at how big the terminal was and the fact that they could really care less about all of the restaurants and amenities that were focused upon by adults, but more interested in going outside and seeing all of the fire trucks and police cars that were associated with the terminal. They even got to go in the car and fire trucks to check them out.

The walk was brutal over an hour and a half, but the experience well worth it. I am sure I will take it for granted a few years from now as we fly out from it as just another airport, but hopefully I'll remember from time to time the experience of seeing something this cool up close and the experience the boys had with it as well. I know they will!
