Hot Christmas Toys 2008: V.Smile Interactive Learning Handheld Game

Now this type of Christmas toy is up my alley; an interactive game that is educational, fun, and can be used basically anywhere. For a parent of two boys that are very much tech-oriented, this type of thing is literally talking our language :) Here's an editorial review:

This hand held version of the popular V Smile educational game console makes for a handy companion on a trip, in the backyard, or wherever a kid might want to go. It works with all the same V Smile "smartridges" as the larger console and features adaptable buttons for left and right handed play. Back at home, it can also plug into a television set to play all the games on a bigger screen. The appeal of the V Smile series, of course, is that all the games are educational and help build skills that kids don’t even realize they’re building. This pocket size set includes a game of Zayzoo, My Alien Classmate that teaches vocabulary, math, logic, and more.

From what it appears, this is a game that has great sound and graphics, but the fact that it eats batteries and is pricey (over 120.00) that it may not be exactly worth the money it costs. However, from the reviews I have seen, it is durable and lives up to its hype--so if you have the dough, it could be a good long-term investment.
