Growth Spurt

When you see your kid every day, you don't often get smacked upside the head by evidence of how much he's growing. Sure, when more infrequent visitors comment on how much bigger he is since last time, you nod and smile, even if you don't think he's really all that much bigger than he was yesterday.

But now it's the time of year when coats that got put away in the spring are coming out again. This time last year, M. Edium was wearing a black, slightly oversized (for him) pea coat that came down to mid-thigh.

Last week it was too cold for his windbreakers but too warm for his winter ski jacket, so out came the pea coat and on it went.

The hem of his t-shirt poked out from under it. All the way around.

At least the sleeves still go all the way to his wrists when his hands are at his sides, so I think we're set until ski-jacket weather. I don't know what we're going to do in the spring. Well, actually I do, since we normally go straight from ski-jacket weather to windbreaker weather some time in April. And when that happens, I hope he'll still fit into his windbreakers.
