Graduated

Less than three weeks after starting Montessori school, M. Small graduated.

Let me clarify. "Graduation" at his new school is an annual event, and everyone is expected to attend, including parents. It basically marks the arbitrary end of one "school year" and the beginning of the next. My wife and I both made it, of course, but M. Small just about didn't.

Maybe in another year, when he's four-and-a-half, M. Small will have the maturity and patience it takes to sit through an hour of speeches and presentations, without constantly coming over to where his mom is sitting and climbing up on her lap and whining that he's thirsty and he wishes it were over. Because he doesn't yet.

I hope he does by next year. And failing that, I hope I do.
