Father's Day Gift Ideas: TV Caller ID

Remember that ad that used to run for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups where some guy goes "Your peanut butter is in my chocolate!" and then the other guy goes "Your chocolate is in my peanut butter!" and then they eat it and it's like the best thing since sliced bread? Well, other than the concern over spreading germs with this example, it is the perfect analogy for this possible gift for Father's Day: A TV Caller ID.

With this, instead of having to get up from your comfy couch or la-z-boy recliner, you can program this little gadget so that when someone calls in, it displays on your television as to who it is. This can of course save time to you bouncing up only to see that it's an unknown caller or some telemarketer from a political campaign, you can just let it go and continue enjoying your Hee-Haw reruns.

I love the idea of this, but my question is--how many people would ever really use this? I mean, come on, let's face it, we're already a lazy society who lives off of cordless phones, so the reality is we'd probably have this nearby anyways, or at least our cell phones within reaching distance. I just wonder if a gift like this isn't past its time. Still a great concept though.
