Father's Day

the upscale mom-mag Cookie has a feature this month called "54 Ways to Be the Perfect Dad." I'm not going to tell you what my score was, but I did notice fairly early on that most of the items aren't things that the kid will appreciate in a father. It's more like stuff that moms will appreciate in a co-parent.

For instance, number 34, "Has achieved a measure of peace qwith the fact that his sex life will never be like it was, but knows that is not the same as it being over," would go right over my three-year-old's head, or else just creep him out.

However, the piece does serve as a reminder that being a good dad means responsibility not only to your kids, but to the person (or people) you're parenting them with.
