Back from (another) trip

Well, we did the whole theme park thing almost 2 weeks ago at Kings Island, and what we found was that Jonathan was not quite ready for the big coasters and a lot of the major thrill rides. We had a great time, but the ideal would have been for the J-man to be on everything, but that didn't quite happen. So this weekend, my wife, the boys, and my family (mom, stepdad, sister and her boyfriend) went to Indiana Beach, a smaller theme park venue about an hour and a half from where we live.

This trip went a bit better--we didn't ask Jonathan to go on anything he didn't want to, and he actually made steps in terms of going on some bigger rides--and loved them. Perhaps the baby step approach will mean that by next summer things will be on more of the "ideal" stretch.

Other than that, the trip was a huge hit. The weather was perfect, and my sister and brother-in-law, who aren't ride fans, were able to do the water park stuff of slides and the beach, and the boys both got to do that and ride the rides as well with my wife and me. Although the coasters aren't huge, they were still fun, and it was really the first time we--as a family in terms of my side--had done anything like that for probably 20 years...More memories to store away....And great things for the boys to have as experiences as well...
