Baby Loves Disco

Have you been to Baby Loves Disco?

It's more or less what it sounds like: a dance party for toddlers. We've been meaning to bring M. Small to one for a while, but we seem to keep missing them. I'm hoping we can make it to one later this month, though.

A year and a half a go, before he even turned two, his mom and I brought him to the State Fair, where his favorite part of the day was hearing a live band at one of the free stages. And dancing to it.

This was no ordinary dancing, however. That toddler took over what seemed like a half-acre of plywood dance floor laid out in front of the stage, and stole the show, almost literally, Travolta-ing all over the plave. "Is he yours?" someone asked my wife. "Oh, goodness, no," she answered.

We're not expecting to fully replicate the experience at an upcoming Baby Loves Disco, with dozens of other preschoolers with whom he'll have to share the spotlight. But maybe that's not entirely a bad thing.
