We were visiting friends on Friday night, and they had the Opening Ceremonies going on their TV. Quite a lot of striking visuals in there. In fact, a friend on Twitter called it "greatest TV programming for LSD trippers EVER."

So now, with my wife having the gymnastics on a lot, every time M. Edium sees the network play a clip from that opening show, he says, "Olympics!" in recognition.

When most people hear the word "Olympics," they think of athletes and competiton and medal podiums and national anthems. I'm a little concerned that my son will always think of light-up pixel drums and glowing bodysuits and people running sideways on a giant globe.

Although I suppose there are worse associations to have. It's not like he's seen Munich yet or anything.
